We are recruiting for a hardworking and motivated School Caretaker, to work on a relief basis in Primary and Secondary schools in Cardiff. The nature of relief work will involve working in various schools in the area, covering internal staff absences such as sickness and maternity.
All applicants must be flexible, reliable and have excellent practical knowledge, as caretakers are responsible for the overall upkeep of the premises, as well as organising contractors and being the main key-holder for the school.
The roles will be Monday – Friday, with some requirement to work during the school holidays. The working hours will vary depending on the specific school requirements.
Caretakers are responsible for looking after a school site including the buildings and grounds.
The duties of a school Caretaker include:
Caretakers must be honest, reliable and trustworthy. They must be able to work well on their own using their own initiative, as well as working within a larger team.
Candidates will ideally have previous caretaking experience; however New Directions will consider candidates who have a background in maintenance, decorating, facilities or security.
It’s mandatory that caretakers have a clear DBS either registered with the Update Service or a New Directions DBS.
