New Directions are looking to appoint a hardworking and motivated School Caretaker, to work on a relief basis in primary and secondary schools in Merthyr Tydfil.
Due to the nature of relief work, all applicants must be flexible, reliable and willing to work in different schools in the area, covering long and short term internal absences. The working hours will vary between roles. Primary schools will usually require their caretaker to work split-shifts, such as 6 am – 10 am and 3 pm – 6 pm, therefore access to transport will be beneficial.
Previous school caretaker experience is highly desirable but not essential. All applicants must be able to demonstrate excellent practical knowledge, previous experience key-holding and an excellent awareness of health and safety.
Caretakers are responsible for looking after a school site including the buildings and grounds.

Caretakers must be honest, reliable and trustworthy. They must be able to work well on their own using their own initiative, as well as working within a larger team.
Candidates will ideally have previous caretaking experience; however New Directions will consider candidates who have a background in maintenance, decorating, facilities or security.
It’s mandatory that caretakers have a clear DBS either registered with the Update Service or a New Directions DBS.
