New Directions are looking currently recruiting caretakers for opportunities in schools throughout Shropshire. We regularly receive both day-to-day and long-term bookings of either a full or part-time nature meaning we will always try to find work to fit around your individual requirements.
If successful in your application, you would be responsible for completing repairs where possible, preparing school facilities for evening events and assisting in the cleaning and maintenance of the school premises amongst other tasks. Due to the nature of the role the ideal candidate will be able to drive and have access to transport. You will also work well as part of a team and demonstrate a commitment to delivering a high level of service to the schools in which you are working. You will have experience in a similar role or in a role in which you have transferable skills such as a trade.
The role would initially be for ad-hoc bookings however there is the potential for long-term and even permanent opportunities.
Caretakers are responsible for looking after a school site including the buildings and grounds.
The duties of a school Caretaker include:
Caretakers must be honest, reliable and trustworthy. They must be able to work well on their own using their own initiative, as well as working within a larger team.
Candidates will ideally have previous caretaking experience; however New Directions will consider candidates who have a background in maintenance, decorating, facilities or security.
It’s mandatory that caretakers have a clear DBS either registered with the Update Service or a New Directions DBS.
