New Directions Education are looking to appoint a hardworking and reliable School Caretaker, to provide relief support to primary and secondary schools in Bridgend.
Due to the nature of relief work, all applicants must be flexible and adaptable. Access to transport will be beneficial, as you will be required to cover long and short-term temporary positions in different schools in the area.
The positions available are full-time. The working hours will vary depending on specific school requirements and can include split shifts (e.g. 6:30am – 10:30am and 2pm – 6pm). There can also be a requirement to work during school holidays.
Our clients are seeking applicants with an awareness of health and safety and excellent practical knowledge. Previous experience as a school caretaker is highly desirable. Applicants without this experience will be considered but must be able to demonstrate a background working in a building, maintenance, repairs, or trades role with transferable skills.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall upkeep, security and maintenance of the grounds and premises, and must be confident working independently.

Caretakers are responsible for looking after a school site including the buildings and grounds.
The duties of a school Caretaker include:
Caretakers must be honest, reliable and trustworthy. They must be able to work well on their own using their own initiative, as well as working within a larger team.
Candidates will ideally have previous caretaking experience; however New Directions will consider candidates who have a background in maintenance, decorating, facilities or security.
It’s mandatory that caretakers have a clear DBS either registered with the Update Service or a New Directions DBS.
