New Directions are currently recruiting for a School Caretaker on behalf of a School in the Wrexham Area. You must have at least 3 months’ experience working as a Caretaker and understand that you will be a key holder on the days that you are on duty.
Your role will include coming into school in the morning, normally around 7:15/7:30am to open up the gates, doors, turn off the alarm, turn on the lights, switch the heating on if needed. If there’s anything to be done or looked at to deal with that, i.e if something isn’t working. You will normally be required to stay until school starts and finish around 9/9:30am.
You will then come back to school around 2:30/3pm and look at anything that needs to be seen to, i.e. sweep floor, cut grass, have a look at anything that might need fixing and deal with it if possible, if not, call someone who is able to fix it, i.e. plumber, electrician, etc. You will normally finish around 4:30/5pm as you will be the last to leave so you can lock up, switch on the alarm, etc.
Normal rate of pay is £10 per hour and there is potential for long term, full time work.
You will be required to do a DBS Check for this role.
This role is to go permenant for the right person.
Caretakers will be responsible for looking after the school site including the buildings and grounds.
The duties of a school caretaker include: general maintenance and minor repairs, liaising with contractors, managing heating and alarm systems, security opening and closing the school, basic cleaning, and key holding.
Caretakers must be honest, reliable and trustworthy. They must be able to work well on their own using their own initiative, as well as working well within a larger team.
Candidates will ideally have previous caretaking experience; however New Directions will consider candidates who have a background in maintenance, decorating, facilities or security. It is mandatory that caretakers have a clear DBS either registered with the Update Service or a New Directions DBS.
