Job Description

New Directions are looking to appoint an adaptable and confident School Clerk, to work on a temporary basis in a school in Mountain Ash, Rhondda Cynon Taf. The working hours will be Monday – Friday, 8am – 4pm, term-time only.

All applicants must have previous experience working in a school office and should be able to demonstrate an excellent knowledge of the School Information Management System (SIMS) as no training will be provided.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Greeting parents, pupils and visitors and issuing name badges
  • Dealing with all phone and email enquiries on behalf of the school
  • Managing school finances, invoicing and banking cash
  • Logging pupil attendance and lateness on SIMS and contacting parents
  • Collating school dinner money on SIMS
  • Updating staff and pupil records on SIMS

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced School Clerk to join the team at a local school and be responsible for the day to day running of the office.

Job Specification

We recruit a wide variety of school office staff roles, including school secretaries, receptionists, administrators, and school clerks.

Duties are varied and may include the following:

  • Receptionist duties such as answering the phone and welcoming visitors
  • Administrative duties such as typing letters, sorting post, managing emails
  • Dealing with school meals administration, ordering stationery, paying invoices, handling monies, printing and photocopying and managing schools systems like SIMS

School office staff must be well organised as well as having excellent verbal and written communication skills. They must also be able to work well under pressure and be able to prioritise tasks.

Candidates will ideally have previous experience working within a school office. Working knowledge of SIMS system is advantageous.

Schools will expect all school support staff to have a good standard of education, some previous office work experience and ideally previous experience working working within an educational setting.
