Job Description

New Directions are recruiting for the following roles within School Support Services-

  • School Administrators
  • School Maintenance/Caretaker
  • Exam Invigilator
  • Lunchtime Supervisors

We are looking for individuals for the above roles in the Swansea and Carmarthenshire area.

The roles available are both long and short-term temporary, covering internal staff absences such as sickness and maternity. All applicants must be available to work between 8:30am – 4pm, Monday-Friday, term-time only, with the exception of caretakers as they may work split shifts and outside of term time.

Duties are role dependent…

Administrators – From £14 an hour

  • Receptionist duties such as answering the phone and welcoming visitors
  • Administrative duties such as typing letters, reports, sorting post, managing emails
  • Dealing with school meals administration, ordering stationary, paying invoices, handling monies, printing and photocopying and managing school systems like SIMS.

Caretakers – From £14 an hour

  • General maintenance and minor repairs
  • Liaising with contractors
  • Managing heating and alarm systems
  • Security
  • Opening and closing the school
  • Basic cleaning
  • Key holding.

Exam Invigilators – From £13.09 an hour

  • Assisting with setting up examination venues by laying out stationery, equipment and examination papers in accordance with the outlined procedures
  • Assisting candidates prior to the start of examinations by directing them to their seats and advising them about possessions permitted in examination venues
  • Ensuring that candidates do not talk once inside the examination venue
  • Invigilating during examinations, dealing with queries raised by candidates and dealing with examination irregularities in accordance with strict procedures
  • Checking attendance during examinations
  • Recording details of early leavers and collecting their scripts
  • Escorting candidates from the examination venue during the examinations as required, and supervising candidates while outside the examination venue
  • Collecting and collating scripts at the end of the examination in accordance with strict procedures
  • Supervising candidates leaving examination venues, ensuring that candidates do not remove equipment or stationery from the venue without authorisation and ensuring that candidates leave venues in an orderly and quiet manner

Lunchtime Supervisor – From £13.09 an hour

  • The role will be for just 1 hour per day supervising the children while they eat lunch, encouraging good manners and supporting healthy eating and supervising children on the school yard ensuring safety.
