Job Description

New Directions Education are recruiting for an enthusiastic Science Teacher who can teach Biology, Physics and Chemistry to GCSE level in secondary schools across Denbighshire. The successful candidate should be able to provide a creative and exciting learning environment whereby pupils are encouraged to show ambition, to maximise their potential, and to embrace all aspects of school life to develop a wide-ranging skill set.

Job Requirements include:

* A passion for raising student expectations and achievements

* The ability to build strong working relationships with staff and pupils

* The ability to remain up to date with educational developments and changes whilst undertaking the role

Newly Qualified Teachers are also encouraged to apply for this role, however you must hold QTS. Job Specification

If your specialism is teaching biology, physics or chemistry and you’re looking for work in a school, we may have jobs to interest you, particularly if you are a newly qualified teacher (NQT) or looking for supply teaching work.

As a science teacher you’ll be expected to:

  • Teach all areas of the school curriculum or your subject specialism
  • Organise the classroom and learning resources to create a positive teaching environment
  • Plan, prepare and teach lessons that cater for all student ability ranges
  • Motivate pupils with enthusiastic, imaginative presentation
  • Maintain discipline
  • Meet requirements for the assessment and recording of pupils’ development
  • Coordinate activities and resources within a specific area of the curriculum, supporting colleagues in the delivery of this specialist area
  • Stay up to date with changes and developments in the structure of the curriculum
  • Take part in school events and activities which may take place at weekends or in the evening
  • Liaise with colleagues and working flexibly, particularly within smaller schools
