New Directions Education are actively seeking a hardworking, adaptable and passionate Science Technician with excellent people skills to support Secondary Schools in the Flintshire area on a supply basis.
The role involves co-ordinating the use and maintenance of the practical resources and facilities within the department for all classes including A level sciences. You will need an excellent knowledge of laboratory conditions and related Health & Safety, enjoy working as a team, be highly organised with attention to detail and used to working under pressure.
The ideal candidate will have experience of working within a laboratory, science department or similar role.
New Directions Education recruits Science Technicians to assist the biology, physics and chemistry departments within schools across the UK.
You will normally work within a team of Technicians helping carry out the following tasks:
Setting up laboratories with the necessary equipment for the lesson ahead
Checking and testing scientific equipment
Helping the teacher with practical demonstrations
Interacting with pupils
Keeping a track on chemicals and solutions
Organising apparatus used and making sure it is stored correctly
Observing strict Health & Safety conditions.
Candidates would ideally have a background in a school environment and have a qualification in biology, physics or chemistry to a degree (or equivalent) level.
