New Directions are looking to appoint an experienced Science Technician to work on a supply basis in secondary schools in Rhondda Cynon Taf.
Positions are available from September 2020. The working hours will be full-time, Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm, term-time only.
Our clients are seeking a professional and knowledgeable individual with a scientific background, to provide support to pupils and staff within the Science department. All applicants must be organised and have excellent communication.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, maintaining and storing apparatus, equipment and materials, and following health and safety guidelines and school policies.
New Directions Education recruits Science Technicians to assist the biology, physics and chemistry departments within schools across the UK.
You will normally work within a team of Technicians helping carry out the following tasks:
Setting up laboratories with the necessary equipment for the lesson ahead
Checking and testing scientific equipment
Helping the teacher with practical demonstrations
Interacting with pupils
Keeping a track on chemicals and solutions
Organising apparatus used and making sure it is stored correctly
Observing strict Health & Safety conditions.
Candidates would ideally have a background in a school environment and have a qualification in biology, physics or chemistry to a degree (or equivalent) level.
