Job Description

New Directions are looking for LSA’s who have secondary SEND experience to work in a school in Wirral.

The school supports pupils with moderate and specific learning difficulties. Several pupils have autistic spectrum disorder. All pupils have an education, health and care plan.

The school is average in size and class sizes are between 10-15, it is rated ofsted ‘Outstanding’

There is a purposeful, calm atmosphere in the school where children have fun, are expected to work to the very best of their abilities, learn new skills and behave well.

As Learning Support Assistant you will be required to

• Motivate pupils to achieve beyond their potential.
• Support and encourage pupils in their schoolwork.
• Encourage children to communicate.
• Help children to understand instructions.
• Ensure pupils feel comfortable and confident in their own abilities.
• Listen to children read, reading to them, and telling them stories.
• Look after vulnerable children who require a dedicated person to manage their physical needs, including their hygiene.
• Help children who need extra support to complete tasks.
