New Directions Education is working with a specialist secondary provision inTrafford, supporting learners with a rangefo needs. We are looking for a dedicated SEMH Support Assistant to provide one-to-one and small group support, helping students engage in learning and build confidence.
This role is ideal for individuals with experience in youth work, sports coaching, mentoring, or support work, particularly those with strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
Key Responsibilities of SEMH Support Assistant:
Provide tailored one-to-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
Assist in teaching GCSE and Functional Skills subjects.
Help develop individual education and behaviour plans, setting achievable goals.
Build trusting relationships to support student well-being and progress.
Encourage engagement in classroom activities and positive interactions.
Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and SEND specialists.
Person Specification:
Experience in education, care, youth work, or coaching.
Strong understanding of SEMH and SEND needs.
Skilled in behaviour management and de-escalation.
Confident, engaging, and able to build strong relationships.
A positive and proactive attitude towards learning support.
Experience in the education and training sector
