New Directions are recruiting Senior Cover Supervisors to fill a variety of secondary posts within Swansea . We are looking for enthusiastic, positive minded individuals, who desire to showcase their knowledge and skills across the education sector.
The schools are well established within the area and have great involvement in the community surroundings, with excellent transport links.
The successful candidate will:
Be passionate and knowledgeable, with the ability to inspire and motivate students to succeed
Have the ability to managed groups of children
Adhere to New Directions Compliance procedures
Be in possession of a clear DBS with the update service (desirable but not essential).
Experienced of working within a classroom setting
Access to transport
The ability to uphold excellent classroom behaviour is essential. A professional attitude is important, where you will be required to abide to the school policies and dress code. You will need to be registered with the Education Workforce Council and happy to adhere to New Directions compliance procedures.
The role will consist of working across Swansea. The cover supervisor can prioritise the schools in which they would like to work. New Directions offers flexible working days, where each candidate can work up to 5 days per week.
Working as a Cover Supervisor can be a very rewarding but very demanding role. Schools may wish to employ staff for cover supervision but on occasions where they are not needed for cover, they might also be released to provide additional support to Teachers in classrooms, or to carry out administrative tasks.
Ideally, candidates will be required to:
Develop curricular knowledge in line with the school requirements
Apply the school’s behaviour management policy and report any difficulties to the class Teacher/senior leadership team
Set homework in line with the classroom Teacher requirements
Provide homework under the guidance of the class Teacher
Administer class tests if requested
Supervise the work of the Teaching Assistant, providing support if required
Abide by and work towards all policies within the school, eg – behaviour management, health and safety, equal opportunities
Carry out pre-prepared exercises in the short term absence of the class Teacher
Ensure students remain on task through classroom management
You will not be required to plan lessons, but will have the opportunity to lead the class
Assisting students where required and ensuring lessons are delivered
Collect completed work and pass to the class teacher.
