Job Description

New Directions is looking to appoint a Teacher of Business Studies, Health and Social Care, and Travel and Tourism to cover maternity leave on behalf of a Secondary School in the Cheshire West area. You will work across Key Stages four and five, working closely with the Head of Learning for KS5, as well as other colleagues throughout the department, to drive continuing improvement in students’ progress in vocational studies.

To teach your subject discipline, inspiring students to have a passion for the subject and an understanding of its key ideas, concepts and skills.

To be explicit in modelling and developing models for learning and mental schema so that students can make connections and apply their learning in a variety of contexts.

To continuously improve classroom practice and achieve excellent student outcomes.

Job Specification

New Directions Education recruits for Business Studies and Business Economics Teachers to work regularly in schools throughout the UK. If you hold qualified teacher status (QTS) and you are passionate about delivering business studies to KS4 and possibly KS5, we would love to hear from you.

As a Business Studies Teacher you’ll be expected to:

  • Teach all areas of the school curriculum or your subject specialism
  • Organise the classroom and learning resources to create a positive teaching environment
  • Plan, prepare and teach lessons that cater for all student ability ranges
  • Motivate students with enthusiastic and imaginative presentation
  • Maintain discipline
  • Meet requirements for the assessment and recording of students’ development
  • Coordinate activities and resources within a specific area of the curriculum, supporting colleagues in the delivery of this specialist area
  • Stay up-to-date with changes and developments in the structure of the curriculum
  • Liaise with colleagues and work flexibly, particularly within smaller schools.
