We are seeking creative individuals to provide one to one tuition to young people who are unable to attend school, either on a short or long-term basis. This may be for a variety of reasons such as a physical or mental health condition or whilst waiting for a Additional Learning Needs statement or placement. This is an opportunity to work closely with vulnerable and hard to reach children and young people.
You must have recent experience of teaching in primary or secondary schools and have the ability to inspire, motivate and engage disaffected children across all the key stages.
We are particularly keen to hear from qualified primary and secondary English, Mathematics and Science teachers able to teach to GCSE/Diploma standard and those that have experience of working with pupils with ALN.
The role will require you to attend a number of meetings; plan and deliver lessons that meet children’s individual needs: liaise with a range of agencies, guardians and schools; compile reports on children’s progress and be part of the performance appraisal process. We can offer an array of In-House training courses, and the suitability of these would be discussed with your dedicated account manager. The opportunity for further training is available and actively encouraged.
Tutors work on a 1-2-1 basis with students usually within the students’ home, covering a variety of subjects notably core subjects including Mathematics, English and Science.
Tutor sessions will be bespoke for each student depending on age and levels, and will normally last between 1 and 2 hours.
Tutors can cover all levels from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 4 however; Tutors will need to have experience of teaching core subjects such as English, Science, and Mathematics at the level they will be tutoring.
To be successful Tutors are required to be:
- Flexible with working hours
- Prepared to work with more than one student in a day
- Happy to travel between locations
- Focused on creating fun and interactive lessons for young people
