New Directions Education is currently recruiting for a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to cover a maternity position in their Year 3 class for a primary school in Torfaen. The school is a large primary school and they are looking for an experienced candidate who can use their own initiative and work well as part of a large team.
The main tasks of the position are:
To support small groups of pupils when completing literacy and numeracy activities.
Monitor and record pupil’s progress and achievements and high light any issues to the class teacher.
To take the lead on classroom displays and presenting the pupils’ work.
To promote positive behaviour within the classroom in line with the schools policies and procedures.
The position is a maternity cover and is due to start mid-September. The hours are full time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm.

As a teaching assistant you’ll be expected to:
Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the head teacher, ALNCO and class teachers
Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Programmes (IEP) for students and help monitor their progress
Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities
Assist class teachers with maintaining student records
Support students with emotional or behavioural problems and help develop their social skills.
