New Directions Education is recruiting resilient, empathetic Behaviour Support Workers<\/strong> to work within specialist SEMH provisions and alternative settings<\/strong> across the Leeds area<\/strong>.

This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils who may have experienced barriers to mainstream education. You will work in SEMH schools, alternative provisions, and pupil referral units (PRUs)<\/strong>, helping students develop positive behaviours, build resilience, and re-engage with learning.
Key Responsibilities<\/em><\/strong>
Provide 1:1 and small group support<\/strong> to students with SEMH needs
Support pupils who may display: Challenging behaviour
Emotional dysregulation
Trauma-related responses
Implement behaviour support plans and intervention strategies<\/strong>
Promote positive behaviour, self-regulation, and social skills<\/strong>
Build strong, consistent relationships<\/strong> to create trust and stability
Support students both in lessons and during unstructured times (e.g. breaks)
Work closely with teachers, pastoral teams, and external professionals
What We\u2019re Looking For<\/em><\/strong>
Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs<\/strong> (schools, youth work, care, or similar)
A calm, patient, and resilient approach<\/strong>
Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
Ability to remain professional in challenging situations
Confidence working in specialist or alternative settings
A passion for supporting young people who need additional guidance and structure
Relevant training such as Team Teach, de-escalation techniques, or Youth Work qualifications<\/strong> is highly desirable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
