The successful candidate will play a vital role within the school&#8217;s pastoral team, working closely with Year Leaders, students, parents, and staff to ensure every learner receives the support they need to succeed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a Pastoral Officer, you will provide both administrative and pastoral support to a designated Year Team, helping to maintain high standards of student welfare, attendance, behaviour, and engagement. You will be a key point of contact for parents and carers and will contribute to creating a positive and supportive learning environment across the school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>We are looking for someone who:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Has previous experience working in a school, educational setting, or pastoral support role.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Demonstrates excellent organisational and administrative skills.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Has strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage positively with students, families, and colleagues.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Can manage sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Is confident using school management systems such as SIMS or similar databases.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Has a proactive, resilient, and solution-focused approach.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Understands the importance of safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Is committed to supporting positive outcomes for young people.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Key Responsibilities<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Provide administrative support to the Year Leader and wider Year Team.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Act as a first point of contact for parents, carers, and external agencies, building positive and professional relationships.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Monitor student attendance and punctuality, implementing school procedures and following up on absences.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Produce attendance-related correspondence and maintain accurate attendance records.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support attendance improvement strategies, including informal attendance contracts and intervention processes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintain accurate student information using SIMS, School Synergy, and other school systems.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Work closely with the Year Leader and Student Advocate to monitor behaviour, attendance, punctuality, and attitudes to learning.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assist with safeguarding procedures by reporting concerns in line with school policies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Coordinate and support year-group events, including parents&#8217; evenings, assemblies, educational visits, and meetings with external professionals.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Manage appointments, meetings, and diary arrangements for the Year Leader.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gather information from teaching and support staff to support student interventions and pastoral planning.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Organise and minute Year Team meetings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support tutor-time administration and the delivery of pastoral initiatives.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collaborate with colleagues across the pastoral team to share best practice and support school-wide priorities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Apply Today!<\/strong><br>All roles are subject to satisfactory references and an Enhanced DBS check.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New Directions Education are currently supporting a large Leeds, Secondary School, who are actively recruiting for an experienced and motivated Pastoral Officer ahead of the New Academic Year (2026\/2027).
