The school supports children and young people who have experienced trauma, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and disrupted education. Many pupils display behaviours that challenge, so we are looking for candidates with experience supporting challenging behaviour who can build positive relationships and provide consistent, nurturing support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Support pupils with SEMH needs on a one-to-one basis and in small groups
\u2022 Build positive, trusting relationships to help pupils regulate their emotions and engage with learning
\u2022 Support pupils who may display challenging behaviour using positive behaviour management strategies
\u2022 Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and differentiated learning activities
\u2022 Encourage pupils’ confidence, resilience, social skills and emotional wellbeing
\u2022 Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and external professionals to support individual behaviour and learning plans
\u2022 Help create a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment where pupils can succeed<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent is desirable
\u2022 Previous experience supporting children or young people with challenging behaviour is essential
\u2022 Experience within an SEMH school, alternative provision, PRU, residential care, youth work or similar setting is highly desirable
\u2022 A calm, patient and resilient approach with the ability to de-escalate challenging situations
\u2022 A genuine passion for supporting children with SEMH needs and trauma-informed backgrounds
\u2022 Team Teach training is advantageous but not essential, with the opportunity to complete a fully funded Team Teach course through New Directions before starting the role
\u2022 Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
