{"id":186883,"date":"2026-09-14T12:56:32","date_gmt":"2026-09-14T11:56:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.new-directions.co.uk\/education\/?post_type=dsa_jobs&#038;p=186883"},"modified":"2026-09-09T12:59:23","modified_gmt":"2026-09-09T11:59:23","slug":"behaviour-support-worker","status":"publish","type":"dsa_jobs","link":"https:\/\/www.new-directions.co.uk\/education\/job-vacancies\/behaviour-support-worker\/","title":{"rendered":"Behaviour Support Worker"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Do you have the experience and resilience to support young people with challenging behaviour?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">New Directions Education is recruiting&nbsp;<strong>experienced Behaviour Support Workers<\/strong>&nbsp;to work within&nbsp;<strong>SEMH provisions across Wakefield<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers, build positive relationships and make meaningful progress in education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Role<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You will work closely with students who may present with&nbsp;<strong>challenging behaviour, emotional regulation difficulties and complex SEMH needs<\/strong>, providing consistent support and helping them engage positively with learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your responsibilities will include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Providing 1:1 and small-group behaviour support.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Building trusting, positive relationships with young people.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Responding calmly and confidently to challenging situations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Helping students engage with learning and develop independence.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Working closely with teachers, pastoral teams and other professionals.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintaining clear and consistent boundaries.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>We\u2019re Looking For<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Previous experience working with challenging behaviour is essential.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You will need to be:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Calm, patient and resilient.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Confident managing challenging behaviour.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Able to build strong relationships with young people.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Consistent and confident in setting boundaries.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Passionate about supporting students with SEMH needs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A strong team player with excellent communication skills.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Experience in&nbsp;<strong>SEMH, SEND, behaviour units, alternative provision, youth work, residential care or similar settings<\/strong>&nbsp;would be highly advantageous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>If you have the experience, resilience and passion to make a difference, we want to hear from you.
