Every year, there are numerous charitable causes and events going on throughout the festive period to help those who are less fortunate or disadvantaged, and at New Directions Education, we love to get involved in causes like these. This year, one of our schools, the Co-op Academy Woodslee Primary School in Wirral, took part in one of these thoughtful and kind-hearted initiatives to show how much they care for those living in their local community and to spread some Christmas joy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Introducing Co-op Academy Woodslee Primary School<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Co-op Academy Woodslee Primary School strives to equip children with the skills they need to be successful in life as citizens of our local communities. They promote several community-minded <a href=\"https:\/\/woodslee.coopacademies.co.uk\/about-us\/vision-and-values\/\">core values and ways of being<\/a> at their heart, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Do what matters most<\/li><li>Succeed together<\/li><li>Be yourself, always<\/li><li>And show you care <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The school firmly believes that the primary education\nsetting is the foundation for nurturing future members of our society. They\nhope to instil strong values and morals in their students by championing their\nbeliefs across everything they do. This December, based on one of their core\nvalues of \u2018showing that they care\u2019, the school took part in a Secret Squirrel\nMission to help vulnerable families in their local community at Christmas time.\nThe mission embodied their values and enabled the school to be a positive role\nmodel for their students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What was the Secret Squirrel Mission?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"422\" height=\"562\" src=\"https:\/\/www.new-directions.co.uk\/education\/files\/Secret-Squirrel-Mission.jpg\" alt=\"Secret Squirrel Mission\" class=\"wp-image-100452\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.new-directions.co.uk\/education\/files\/Secret-Squirrel-Mission.jpg 422w, https:\/\/www.new-directions.co.uk\/education\/files\/Secret-Squirrel-Mission-405x540.jpg 405w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 422px) 100vw, 422px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The Secret Squirrel Mission was a top-secret initiative to\ndeliver surprise food parcels over the Christmas period to vulnerable families\nin the local area. It was an undercover mission led by the school, designed to\ngive something back to their local community. On Friday 20<sup>th<\/sup>\nDecember, volunteers were busy preparing Christmas food parcels in secret,\nbefore travelling around Bromborough, Wirral, to deliver the school\u2019s donations\nto vulnerable local families. The festive food parcels were delivered by\nSanta\u2019s secret helpers in the dark on Friday night, leaving heart-warming\nsurprises for their unsuspecting recipients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We loved the sound of this initiative as soon as we heard about it from Woodslee Primary school.
