New Directions Education was delighted to be able to support Oldham Athletic Football Club\u2019s Community Trust scheme recently by helping with sponsorship.\u00a0 The Football League Division one club \u00a0organise a year round programme of activities for schools across the borough, the club recently hosted the Oldham Athletic Kids Cup a \u00a06-a-side tournament for primary schools.<\/p>\n
More than 30 teams from across Oldham participated in the \u00a0Oldham Athletic Kids \u00a0Cup, the games were played over two evenings and were a showcase of footballing skills from the children who produced\u00a0an exciting array of football. The teams battled it out fiercely to progress to the next stage, eight teams progressed to the finals evening.<\/p>\n
The finals evening saw \u00a0another round of exciting matches, the eventual winners \u00a0were St Joseph\u2019s RC Primary\u00a0in Shaw who saw off Hodgeclough \u00a0in the final.\u00a0 St Joseph\u2019s RC primary now go on to represent the borough and football league club in the northern finals of the national competition which will be held later this month at\u00a0Crewe Alexandra\u2019s\u00a0 training ground.<\/p>\n
The winners of the northern finals have the opportunity to win an all expenses paid trip to Wembley!<\/p>\n
Wendy Noble, Trust Administrator at \u00a0Oldham Athletics commented on the the support of New Directions Education \u201cI am delighted to work alongside New Directions Education. Both organisations have close working relationships with primary and secondary schools in the Oldham area, so the decision to work together seemed natural and logical. This is part of the long partnership between ourselves at the Trust and New Directions.\u201d<\/p>\n

The school has a great tradition of sporting involvement and success.\u00a0 Their trophy cabinet is full of souvenirs of their real team approach which has resulted in success in a wide variety of sports from swimming to lacrosse, and the corridor walls are adorned with pictures from the many sporting activities that over the years the school has participated in with great success , particularly in team sports such as\u00a0 football and netball.\u00a0 Well done St Joseph\u2019s.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
