Nicola Morgans, Year 6 Teacher and the pupils at Plasmarl Primary have turned their playground from a concrete jungle into an entrepreneurial venture involving the whole school and community.<\/p>\n
Local Businesses and Keep Wales Tidy have supported the school through funding and materials to make this garden a resounding success. Their design brief was to create a sustainable environment and the Year 6 pupils created and presented their design plans in a Dragons Den style to Phil Budd from Keep Wales Tidy to secure funding.<\/p>\n
The school are currently growing fruit and vegetables which are being used in the school kitchen to create a sustainable future and support the pupils learning. The school are now working towards their Green Flag status and the playground is an ongoing project.<\/p>\n
New Directions Swansea Account Managers Kelly Whiteway and Anna Powell visited the project and commented \u2018We were really impressed with how the whole school and community have come together to support a worthwhile project and bring the pupils\u2019 learning to life. It has also ignited the entrepreneurial spirit of the Year 6 pupils. These are real skills that can be utilised into their adult life, as well as fostering a love of protecting their environment\u2019.<\/p>\n
