Throughout the months of September and October New Directions Social Care took part in a challenge which created over \u00a314,000 for homelessness charity The Wallich.<\/p>\n
19 businesses in total across the Cardiff region took part in the Clash of the Corporates challenge, where teams were given an initial investment of \u00a350 and encouraged to \u2018nurture their note\u2019.
\nFrom sponsored head shaves to cake baking and concerts, the initiative encouraged businesses to stand up and be counted in the fight against homelessness.<\/p>\n
Sarah Blackmore, Head of New Directions Social Care said of the project \u2018when we heard about the Clash of the Corporates initiative, we knew 100% that we had to be involved. We work closely with the Wallich to support their recruitment needs and have done so for a number of years. The team there are tireless in their pursuit for supporting those who have been impacted by homelessness. It really resonated with our team and we knew we could contribute\u2019.<\/p>\n
The Cardiff based team built a tuck shop that sold a variety of sweet and savoury goods. From the initial investment of \u00a350, the team raised over \u00a3450 ensuring a mid-table position at the end of the competition. Liam Healan who is the Account Manager for The Wallich added \u2018although our colleagues in Cardiff may not thank us for their expanding waistlines, we are so utterly proud of how they have helped us to raise the much needed monies for the charity. We keep being nagged to make the shop a permanent feature \u2013 if only we had the time! Our focus is firmly on ensuring that the social care sector in Wales and the South West get the best possible service from our team\u2019.<\/p>\n
In October this year New Directions was named as the first Welsh recruiter to achieve Investors in People Gold Status. This comes at the end of an exceptionally successful year for the team who were also awarded \u2018Best Recruitment Agency\u2019 at the prestigious Regional Awards and \u2018highly commended\u2019 with \u2018Best Service\u2019 at Wales\u2019 first ever Go Awards.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
