New Directions – picking up the pace with Cricket great!

During our time at this years Pharmacy show at the NEC, we were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to meet Shoaib Akhtar, the fastest bowler within the world of Cricket.

Shoaib Akhtar, also known as the ‘Rawalpindi Express’ made his international debut in the 1997/98 season but hit the big time with his performances at the 1999 World Cup.

Shoaib bowled at 100.04mph against New Zealand in 2002, breaking the previous record of 99.8mph set by Australia’s Jeff Thomson in 1976. Akhtar will go down in history as the first man to reach this magic milestone.

The Pakistan fast bowler was kind enough to pose for photographs, sign autographs and even made time for a Question and Answer session in the seminar hall.
