Children’s Residential Support Workers Vacancies in England and Wales

Introduction

Residential Support Workers will be responsible to the Residential Home Manager. They will assist the Manager in providing child care in line with departmental policy and procedures.

Support Workers will provide care for young people in residence, which will mean that they will be required to work shifts, which will include nights and weekends.

It is imperative that Support Workers pass a police check via the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Typical Support Worker qualifications are NVQ Level 2 / 3 or equivalent. Clients may also request the following training of employees:

  • Manual Handling
  • Medication Awareness
  • Basic First Aid
  • Team Teach

Job Overview

The role of Children’s Residential Support Worker is to support the Residential Home Manager with the day-to-day care of children and young people.

Support Workers will also contribute to creating a safe and nurturing environment in which children and their families can be offered support and guidance.

A Support worker is responsible for:

  • Providing for the personal needs of young people and children
  • Liaising with family members and external agencies
  • Ensuring policies and procedures of the home are adhered to
  • Participating in activities and working with the Manager to ensure smooth running of the home
