New Directions Social Care are currently recruiting for an experienced Healthcare Assistant in the Bishops Cleeve area of Cheltenham.
This a permanent full time position contracted to 36.5 hours a week working in a supported living service which caters for three service users, due to their conditions you would be required to provide personal care and medication as well as supporting them with their various activities throughout the day.
The service is 24/7 staffed and therefore work will be on a rota basis with days, evenings and some sleep in shifts. The service has an excellent reputation for providing support and is situated on a bus route.
Ideally we are seeking individuals with experience within a similar setting, however the company provide a full induction and training programme.
We are looking for individuals that are car drivers, due to some hours being community based working with adults within the community supporting them to live their everyday lives any community based support is within a quarter of a mile from the supported living service
The role of a Care Assistant
Duties may vary depending on the needs of the individual. Care Assistants are responsible for the individuals' overall comfort and wellbeing and help people who need care and support to live as independently as possible. Duties can include:
- Assisting and enabling;
- washing and dressing;
- taking food and refreshment;
- bed making;
- providing interest and activities to stimulate and engage the service user;
- monitoring individuals’ conditions by taking temperature, pulse, respiration and weight;
- contributing to record keeping.
Care workers work as part of a larger team and are supervised by a manager or senior care worker. They can work in a residential care home, domiciliary care, or out in the community. Their work is defined by a care plan, which is usually developed by a social worker or care manager to meet the assessed needs of the person requiring care or support.
