Education Support Worker

Job Description

Are you an experienced  support worker? Are you passionate about supporting young people with learning difficulties and complex needs?

New Directions are currently recruiting an education Support Worker to work for a prestigious education setting in Denbighshire who are an independent provider of specialist further education in North Wales, offering day, and up to 52-week residential placements for young people aged 16 to 25 with a learning disability and complex needs.

As a support worker, you will be working one on one with young people who have learning disabilities or complex needs and you will be responsible for supporting their educational needs, fulfilling their potential for independence, choice, inclusion and control, supporting them throughout the day with daily tasks and needs. The role of a support worker is very unique and varied because the young people you support all have individual needs. Whilst this can be a diverse role, the key focus is always on supporting a person to lead a fulfilling and more independent life.

The role of a Support Worker

The duties of a Support Worker vary depending on the needs and wishes of the individual. They offer support for the individuals overall comfort and wellbeing and help people who need care and support to live as independently as possible. They will support individuals with many aspects of everyday living; including physical, emotional and social.

Support Workers can work in a residential care home, domiciliary care, or out in the community. Their work is defined by a care plan, which is often developed by a social worker or care manager to meet the assessed needs of the person who needs care or support.
