Head of Marketing and Student Recruitment

Department:                Curriculum & Quality
Location:                     City of Newport Campus
Reports to:                  Vice Principal (Curriculum & Quality)
Salary Scale:               Management Spine

Job Purpose:              To provide inspirational leadership in the planning, development and implementation of marketing and communications campaigns and programmes which build on a strong brand and promote the reputation of the college, enabling the achievement of all of the college’s student recruitment targets

Key Responsibilities:

Marketing & Communications

  • To lead the development and implementation of wide-ranging, innovative and integrated marketing plans, campaigns and activities to support the college both strategically and operationally
  • To develop, manage and implement a comprehensive external communications plan that aligns with the mission and strategic priorities of the college and strengthens the understanding of our vision
  • To manage all recruitment related social networking sites through strategic postings, management of content and community engagement
  • To develop and implement the e-Marketing plan, ensuring integration with other marketing activities
  • To lead the production of College publications to agreed timescales
  • To monitor, review and report on the impact and outcomes of marketing activities
  • To advise College managers on all professional marketing and external communication matters
  • To manage the college website development and content to provide a user friendly, accessible facility that supports customer engagement
  • To work closely with the Internal Communications Manager to align communications appropriately

Student Recruitment

  • To advise on, develop and implement specific recruitment campaigns that support the achievement of College targets and priorities
  • To advise on and support the development of Campus & other departmental marketing plans
  • To develop relationships with external partners to raise awareness of the college and maintain a strong brand and identity
  • To manage analytics, trends, data and enquiries to influence marketing activity to achieve our targets
  • To manage the Student Recruitment team and work closely with admissions to maximise the conversion of enquiries into enrolments to meet our recruitment targets
  • To work with other college managers to support transition from our partner schools

Leadership & Management

  • To lead and manage the appropriate out sourcing of activities to ensure effective and efficient delivery of the marketing and student recruitment plan
  • To represent the College externally as required, including in appropriate professional networks to ensure that up to date knowledge is acquired of education sector best practice in marketing and communications
  • To ensure that staff representing the College are prepared for and advised on any interactions with external media
  • To manage and monitor the use of the resources of the department, to ensure that they are used effectively and efficiently

Other Tasks

  • Take a lead role in managing the department’s responsibility regarding Data Protection/GDPR, ensuring good practice is applied
  • To comply with all college policies and procedures, keeping abreast of changes and taking appropriate action within job role.
  • To ensure that safe working practices are embedded across the college and appropriate Health and Safety legislation requirements are met.
  • To promote equality and diversity and adhere to the college’s safeguarding requirements to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all learners at all times.
  • To promote bilingualism in line with the college’s Welsh Language Standards.
  • To comply with all aspects of the College’s Financial Regulations

Experience:
Please be advised that we require a minimum 6 months paid social care experience or 12 months relevant voluntary experience.
