Experienced support worker wanted for a well-established homeless hostel in the Bridgend/ NPT area.

 

Within this role you will be fully responsible for the management of a case load and will need to be proactive to ensure all documentation is completed in a timely manner and the needs of your clients are met.

Your case load will consist of long-standing issues surrounding homelessness/ at risk of homelessness and may coincide with substance and alcohol misuse. Service users may also present challenging behavior, so an ability to verbally deescalate behaviors is essential.

Working with the communities most vulnerable you will need to build rapports and trust quickly, allowing the time you spend with rough sleepers to be useful and effective. This will also include lone working throughout the Bridgend area.

Having a caseload of approximately 6-8 individuals will enable you to spend a substantial amount of time with each client and truly understand their history & current situation; as well as allowing you to formulate the most appropriate plan of action for each individual.

You will be working on a variable shift pattern so flexibility is essential along with a full UK license and access to your own vehicle.

Through your role you will be expected to possess a firm understanding of tenancy management/ emergency accommodation services, with particular experience within floating support; as well as a knowledge of benefits and third-party organizations to which you will make and receive referrals.

Experience:
Please be advised that we require a minimum 6 months paid social care experience or 12 months relevant voluntary experience.
