New Directions are looking to recruit a Support Worker to work in learning disability project in and around the Rhondda Cynon Taff area. The position would be providing support throughout the day to people living within their own home. You will be involved in day-to-day support which may include personal care, some domestic tasks, pursuing hobbies, support in the community and promoting their independence.
A wide range of hours to choose from long days and sleep ins.
To be eligible in this role, you will have:
Ability to use own initiative.
Ideally have worked with challenging behaviour, in a previous role.
Empathetic and respectful of the wishes of the client.
A passion to work with vulnerable people.
An enthusiasm for caring, good work ethics and a positive attitude.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent written and report writing skills.
Experience of working in a team, but is confident in lone working
Ideally a driver, but this is not essential
The role of a Support Worker
The duties of a Support Worker vary depending on the needs and wishes of the individual. They offer support for the individuals overall comfort and wellbeing and help people who need care and support to live as independently as possible. They will support individuals with many aspects of everyday living; including physical, emotional and social.
Support Workers can work in a residential care home, domiciliary care, or out in the community. Their work is defined by a care plan, which is often developed by a social worker or care manager to meet the assessed needs of the person who needs care or support.
