Job Description

New Directions are recruiting on behalf of a long term client that provide support to the homeless.

Our client are looking for the right person to fill this role and start asap.

The role will be Temporary for a 6 week period initially with a view of this being extended. Paying – £9.50 per hour.

Project Information

The Reflections Network is a network of psychotherapists that enables our client to bring counselling and psychotherapy input when and where it’s needed most, ensuring such crucial support is available to our Service Users. Developing counselling and psychotherapy as an in-house function enables us to create a bespoke service that has the flexibility and understanding that people with chaotic lifestyles and complex needs require. The network will provide much needed enhancement to all our current housing related support and progression services across Wales.

Purpose of Role

  • To develop a network of appropriate psychotherapists and counsellors who will provide a flexible and responsive service to our clients.
  • To manage and promote the smooth running of the network ensuring there is sufficient provision and that service delivery is aligned to the companies values and way of working.
  • To ensure that delivery compliments and enhances the companies principles of operating psychologically informed environments (PIE).
  • To ensure the project’s monitoring requirements are met.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Establish and manage the Network

With guidance from our in house psychologist, source appropriately qualified and accredited counsellors and psychotherapists (C&P) at various locations around Wales.

  1. Provide training and guidance around the expectations and practices required of each C&P.
  2. Secure/arrange appropriate venues for safe delivery to take place.
  3. Develop effective referral and feedback procedures between C&Ps and the staff of frontline services.
  4. Ensure C&Ps can respond to clients in crisis as well as provide appointment-based sessions.
  5. Provide appropriate support and supervision to each C&P.
  6. To support frontline projects to develop peer support groups.
  7. Arrange bi-annual meetings with C&Ps that provide an opportunity for all to meet, problem solve, discuss best practice and ensure delivery is consistent and affective across the whole network.
  8. To deliver training on suicide prevention, self-harm and reflective practice as and when required (where workload allows).
  9. To support the Organisations roll-out and commitment to operating within a PIE framework

Reporting, Administration and Evaluation

  1. Establish effective mechanisms that ensure monitoring and reporting requirements   are met.
  2. To coordinate and chair the Reflections Network steering group.
  3. To seek regular feedback from frontline services as to the effectiveness of delivery.
  4. To address any issues that arise, resolve them accordingly, and continually strive to ensure the network delivers high quality counselling and psychotherapy.
  5. To ensure that the Reflections Network meets its obligations under the Welsh Government Section 64 funding.
  6. To ensure all administrative work is completed to a high standard and on time.

Training

  1. To deliver training on suicide prevention, self-harm and reflective practice as and when required (where workload allows).
  2. To support the Organisations roll-out and commitment to operating within a PIE framework

Other Duties

  1. To work within and promote all of The companies policies and procedures.
  2. To travel and work at locations right across Wales as and when required.
  3. To attend supervision, training and meetings as and when required.
  4. To undertake other duties within the remit of the post as requested by the Head of Participation and Progression

Person Spec

Knowledge and qualifications

  1. Holds a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling/degree in Psychology or equivalent
  2. Hold, or be willing to work towards, a Level 3 Education and Training (EAT) qualification
  3. Evidence of recent continuing professional development.
  4. Knowledge of the Together for Mental Health Strategy
  5. Knowledge of mental health and substance misuse
  6. Knowledge of suicide intervention and prevention, and self-harm
  7. Knowledge of psychologically informed environments and complex trauma
  8. Knowledge, understanding and commitment to equal Opportunities
  9. Knowledge of evidence-based practices such as CBT, DBT, Interpersonal Therapy, Group Therapy and Behavioural Activation in particular.
  10. Knowledge of client confidentiality requirements and standards.

Experience

  1. Experience of working with vulnerable people
  2. Experience of people management
  3. Experience of managing or coordinating a project
  4. Experience of assessment skills and crisis intervention.
  5. Experience of treatment planning and intervention skills.
  6. Experience of Individual and group treatment methods.

Skills and Abilities

  1. Able to work within and understand the importance of professional boundaries
  2. Able to confidently challenge others and manage conflict effectively
  3. Excellent communication skills, verbal and written with the ability to communicate with a wide range of people
  4. Ability to support the implementation of new systems and working practices
  5. Able to establish monitoring mechanisms and analyse the outputs and outcomes of the service and write reports accordingly.
  6. Able to check work against set criteria.
  7. Competent using Microsoft Word, Excel and MS Outlook to an intermediate level.
  8. Good organisational skills
  9. Ability to confidently and professionally challenge judgemental stereotypes and inappropriate practice
  10. Able to work as part of a team and on own initiatitive.

Other

  1. Driving licence and own vehicle essential
  2. Able to work flexibly in line with the requirements of the organisation
  3. Ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable but not essential
  4. This post is subject to an enhanced/standard DBS Disclosure as appropriate

Experience:
Please be advised that we require a minimum 6 months paid social care experience or 12 months relevant voluntary experience.
