Residential Support Worker

Can you make a difference to a young person’s life? Are you adventurous and up for a challenge?

We are looking for permanent workers in the Stroud area to service a residential home specialising in supporting those with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour. The home/college is located on a large plot where students have access to their own farm, wood and metal workshops, and arts centre. They have a strong agricultural atmosphere with the produce being used on a daily basis but staff and students.


You will:

  • Support student’s holistic needs
  • Act as within a key team for designated individuals
  • Contribute to the smooth running of the home and school through effective communication with young people living there, staff and family member’s.
  • Continue reviewing, monitoring, recording and reporting of student attendance, learning and progress towards outcomes
  • Create a warm and welcoming and homely atmosphere
  • Support the students to produce nurturing and wholesome meals, using organic and locally sourced ingredients

You will need:

  • Experience of supporting adults with various needs
  • Experience of building positive relationships
  • Knowledge in adult and children safeguarding
  • Access to own vehicle
  • DBS on the update service

The role of a Support Worker

The duties of a Support Worker vary depending on the needs and wishes of the individual. They offer support for the individuals overall comfort and wellbeing and help people who need care and support to live as independently as possible. They will support individuals with many aspects of everyday living; including physical, emotional and social.

Support Workers can work in a residential care home, domiciliary care, or out in the community. Their work is defined by a care plan, which is often developed by a social worker or care manager to meet the assessed needs of the person who needs care or support.
