We at New Directions are currently looking for Senior Residential Support Workers & Residential Support Workers for one of our clients Children’s Residential Home in Hereford.
(PERMANENT POSITONS AND TEMP TO PERM POSITIONS AVAILABLE)
This children’s home is a 4-bed mixed gender Therapeutic home.
This home supports children and young people with emotional behavioural difficulties.
- It is essential that the candidates are over the age of 22 and hold a valid driving license.
- For senior roles, candidates will need to hold their NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young Peoples Workforce.
- Non-Senior support workers do not necessarily need the level 3 qualification but will need to have a good amount of experience of working within the looked after children sector.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR SENIOR ROLE:
- To undertake a lead role in ensuring the care and welfare of each child in placement.
- To give guidance and support to all Residential Workers.
- To be responsible for the supervision of designated members of staff and to record this in the Supervision Sheet on the member of staff’s file.
- To raise any concerns with the Registered Manager as appropriate.
- To attend meetings and training as required.
- To share the responsibility for creating a pleasant working environment.
- To be flexible in hours of work in order to meet tasks required.
- To be aware of Health and Safety regulations particularly as related to the upkeep of the building and its surroundings.
- To undertake any other duties that may be reasonably requested.
- To safeguard and promote the welfare of children and be aware of relevant policies and procedures.
- Adhere to and promote the Company’s Equalities, Inclusion and Diversity Policy.

The role of a Children’s Residential Support Worker
Children’s Residential Support Workers look after the physical and mental wellbeing of children in care. Children living in a residential care home need the same kind of support and care that all children and young people need, in order to achieve the best they can in terms of their health, education and all aspects of their development.
As a residential support worker you will need to gain the trust of children and young people who for a variety of reasons need to use residential care to help them deal with issues affecting their lives. The work involves being a role model, developing good relationships and guiding children and young people in their learning, life skills and personal development. You will have an individual responsibility to comply with statutory child protection processes and make sure that children are kept safe from harm.

- mental strength, to cope with challenging situations and clients.
To work in children’s homes, you must be at least 18 years old and at least 4 years older than the oldest child in the home. For this reason, many of these jobs carry a minimum age restriction of 21.
Children's Residential Support Workers will be required to hold or complete the relevant Level 3 qualification in Children & Young people.
In Wales, Residential Child Care Managers and Workers must register with the Care Council in order to practise.

Experience:Please be advised that we require a minimum 6 months paid social care experience or 12 months relevant voluntary experience.
