New Directions Social Care are currently recruiting for a full time Support Worker to work in a unique rural setting in Ledbury, that caters for 15 services users with a learning disability.
This is a permanent position offering 36.5 hours a week on a rota basis with some sleep in shifts, this is a great opportunity to work in a setting which is person centred and family orientated.
The service caters for individuals who are semi – independent therefore do not require any personal care, it is more focused on creating a sense of independence and supporting service users to undergo various activities in house and in the community. Some activities include creative learning on site and also outdoor activities to include canoeing,gardening,sailing and simply walking in the countryside surroundings.
Ideally you will be a car driver due to the location of the setting and have experience in this line of work, however this is not essential as the company offers a full training and induction programme.
The role of a Support Worker
The duties of a Support Worker vary depending on the needs and wishes of the individual. They offer support for the individuals overall comfort and wellbeing and help people who need care and support to live as independently as possible. They will support individuals with many aspects of everyday living; including physical, emotional and social.
Support Workers can work in a residential care home, domiciliary care, or out in the community. Their work is defined by a care plan, which is often developed by a social worker or care manager to meet the assessed needs of the person who needs care or support.
