New Directions is currently seeking an experienced Support Worker in Weston-super-Mare to provide support to homeless Young People.
A 10-bed centre providing housing and support for young people aged 16 to 25 and a range of integrated housing, training, education, employment, advice. Staffed 24 hours a day.
About the role:
-You will deliver person-centred support in a safe and secure environment, with a focus on promoting independence wherever possible.
-Engage with practical activities, in particular those which promote and develop learning, social skills, healthy lifestyles, arts and culture, aiming to broaden horizons and raise aspirations
-Support individuals in line with their wishes to engage in training, education, employment or voluntary work
Good communication skills, Commitment to working flexibly, professional, enthusiastic, Ability to motivate & influence.

The role of a Support Worker
The duties of a Support Worker vary depending on the needs and wishes of the individual. They offer support for the individuals overall comfort and wellbeing and help people who need care and support to live as independently as possible. They will support individuals with many aspects of everyday living; including physical, emotional and social.
Support Workers can work in a residential care home, domiciliary care, or out in the community. Their work is defined by a care plan, which is often developed by a social worker or care manager to meet the assessed needs of the person who needs care or support.
