About the Role
We are seeking dedicated and resilient Residential Children’s Support Workers to join our team in Newport. You will be supporting children and young people in a residential care setting, helping them to feel safe, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential.
This is a rewarding but challenging role that requires emotional strength, consistency, and a genuine passion for working with young people who may present with complex needs and behaviours.
Key Responsibilities
Provide high-quality care and support to children and young people in a residential setting
Promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being
Build trusting relationships with young people
Support daily routines, including education, activities, and personal care
Maintain accurate records and reports
Work collaboratively with the wider care team and external professionals
Ensure safeguarding and health & safety standards are always met
Essential Requirements
Experience working with children and young people in a residential or similar setting
Valid restraint training (e.g. PBM or equivalent)
Ability to work long day shifts and sleep-in shifts on a rota basis
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging behaviour
A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people
Desirable
NVQ Level 3 in Children & Young People (or willingness to work towards)
Previous experience in residential childcare or supported living environments
