Nursery Nurse

A Nursery Nurse may be employed in a variety of different institutions, these range from private nurseries play schemes, after school clubs and crèches. Nursery nurses are responsible for taking care of all needs of young children, this includes education, play and also social development.

Hours of work are dependent on the specific environment, typically nursery nurses will provide care for children during the day between 7am till 6pm. Shift work is available Part-time and full-time opportunities are also available.

It is imperative that Nursery Nurses pass a police check via the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Clients in the sector often also request the following training of employees:

  • Basic First Aid
  • Health and Safety
  • Food Hygiene

The majority of nursery nurses are required to have a relevant childcare qualification for example NNEB or a NVQ Level 3.
