Job Description

New Directions Social Care is looking for compassionate, dedicated and reliable Adult Support Workers across the Swansea area.

This is a rewarding opportunity to support adults with a range of learning disabilities, mental health needs, and complex needs, helping them to live as independently as possible while promoting choice, dignity, and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high quality, person centred support tailored to individual care plans
  • Support individuals with daily living activities, including personal care where required
  • Assist with daily living activities, including meal preparation and household tasks
  • Encourage and support individuals to access the community and participate in activities they enjoy
  • Administer or assist with medication
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with the individuals you support
  • Observe, monitor, and accurately record changes in individuals wellbeing
  • Complete daily records ad documentation to a high standard
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and report any concerns appropriately
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and healthcare professionals to deliver high quality support
  • Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment at all times

Requirements

Essential:

  • Minimum 6 months’ experience in a support worker, care, housing support, hostel, mental health, or related role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexible approach to working various shift patterns.
  • Commitment to promoting dignity, respect, and equality.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Right to work in the UK.

Desirable:

  • Experience working within supported living, homelessness services, hostels, mental health services, or substance misuse settings.
  • NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care or a related qualification.
  • Mental Health Awareness, Safeguarding, or Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression (PMVA) training.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
