Adult Support Worker Job in Blackwood

Job Description

Are you a caring person?  Looking for a flexible role where you can develop your existing skills?

New Directions are looking for an experienced Support Worker to join us for part time work in Blackwood. This fresh and newly developed service aims to support adults (18 years or older) with dementia. Aiming to enable people to live their lives as they wish, the home has been split into two level which allows spacious accommodation and facilities, with assistive technology.

You will:

  • Support people with their individual needs, including providing support to those with physical disabilities or dementia/memory loss.
  • Supporting with hobbies and activities
  • Escorting individuals to appointments
  • Provide personal care when required
  • Prepare meals

 

You will need:

  • A flexible working approach
  • Experience of supporting adults from various backgrounds
  • Experience of building positive relationships
  • A willingness to undertake and complete further learning and development
  • DBS on the update service

The role of a Support Worker

The duties of a Support Worker vary depending on the needs and wishes of the individual. They offer support for the individuals overall comfort and wellbeing and help people who need care and support to live as independently as possible. They will support individuals with many aspects of everyday living; including physical, emotional and social.

Support Workers can work in a residential care home, domiciliary care, or out in the community. Their work is defined by a care plan, which is often developed by a social worker or care manager to meet the assessed needs of the person who needs care or support.

Experience:
Please be advised that we require a minimum 6 months paid social care experience or 12 months relevant voluntary experience.
