Job Description

What does the word ‘family’ mean to you? For some, being with their loved ones is not possible. New Directions are looking for support workers who are up for the challenge and will drive towards keeping mothers and their babies together.

We are looking for temporary worker in the Bristol area. The service aims to support mothers with their new born babies, and provide outreach work with young people transitioning from foster care to independent living.

You will:

  • Protect adults from risks to their health, welfare and development
  • Actively promote the involvement of all service users in the home’s social group
  • Participate in supervised contacts
  • Support in parenting assessments and emergency supervisions

You will need:

  • Experience of supporting adults with various needs
  • Experience of building positive relationships
  • Knowledge in adult and children safeguarding
  • Access to own vehicle
  • DBS on the update service

The role of a Support Worker

The duties of a Support Worker vary depending on the needs and wishes of the individual. They offer support for the individuals overall comfort and wellbeing and help people who need care and support to live as independently as possible. They will support individuals with many aspects of everyday living; including physical, emotional and social.

Support Workers can work in a residential care home, domiciliary care, or out in the community. Their work is defined by a care plan, which is often developed by a social worker or care manager to meet the assessed needs of the person who needs care or support.

Experience:
Please be advised that we require a minimum 6 months paid social care experience or 12 months relevant voluntary experience.
