New Directions are recruiting experienced and dedicated Welsh Speaking Primary Teachers to work in Welsh Medium Primary Schools across Conwy. Welsh speakers are in demand to cover supply vacancies across the county. 

Supply teaching is flexible and you can work full or part time depending on your availability and needs, with some posts extending to long term positions. Experienced teachers and NQT’s are welcome to apply. 

You can state your preferred days of work and areas that you are willing to travel to. 

To be successful you must be a dedicated education professional who is passionate, flexible and empathetic. It is essential that you are able to effectively build relationships with both colleagues and pupils, providing a safe and engaging learning environment 

Job Specification

Working within a Welsh medium school is not only rewarding but essential in keeping the Welsh language prominent within our society.

We are experiencing a surge in demand. Positions can start immediately, and we can offer you work in as many schools as you wish. Successful applicants will be covering classes ranging from Nursery through to Year 6 but if you have a Key Stage preference, we will match you up as much as possible.

Due to the current climate, the nature of our work is quite fast paced with supply teachers required to cover last minute absences at times. We will also be able to offer you long term placements if this is of something of interest to you.

We recruit Primary Teachers for jobs in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), Key Stage 1 (KS1) and Key Stage 2 (KS2) Primary Teacher job roles.

As a Welsh Speaking Primary School Teacher you’ll be expected to:

  • Have a good understanding of the Welsh language
  • Teach all areas of the school curriculum
  • Organise the classroom and learning resources to create a positive teaching environment
  • Plan, prepare and teach lessons that cater for all student ability ranges
  • Motivate pupils with enthusiastic, imaginative presentation
  • Maintain discipline
  • Meet requirements for the assessment and recording of pupils’ development
  • Coordinate activities and resources within a specific area of the curriculum, supporting colleagues in the delivery of this specialist area
  • Stay up to date with changes and developments in the structure of the curriculum
  • Liaise with colleagues and working flexibly, particularly within smaller schools.
