Job Description

New Directions Education is seeking a committed and skilled Intervention Teacher to deliver targeted English and Maths support to KS3 pupils in a secondary school in Halton, starting in January 2026. This long-term role is ideal for a teacher who is passionate about raising attainment and helping learners build confidence in core subjects.

The Role:

  • Deliver small-group and 1:1 intervention sessions in KS3 English and Maths.
  • Identify learning gaps and plan targeted activities to help pupils make rapid and sustained progress.
  • Work closely with the English and Maths departments, SEND team, and pastoral staff to support individual learning plans.
  • Track and assess pupil progress, providing feedback and adjusting intervention strategies as needed.
  • Contribute to the wider school ethos of support, achievement, and high expectations.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • A proactive and encouraging teacher with experience delivering English and/or Maths at KS3.
  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or has relevant teaching experience in a secondary setting.
  • Confident differentiating work to meet the needs of learners who require additional support.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate and engage pupils.
  • Willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check and register with the Update Service if required.
  • Must have employment references covering the last 5 years.
