New Directions Education are currently recruiting a dedicated and nurturing 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant to support a pupil within an EYFS setting at a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Chester. This full-time role is due to start in September and is ideal for individuals who are passionate about early childhood development and supporting pupils with additional needs.
The school is a well-established, community-focused primary setting with a strong inclusive ethos and supportive leadership team. Staff are committed to creating a nurturing environment where every child is encouraged to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
This is a full-time position, starting in September.
The Role:
• Providing dedicated 1:1 support for an EYFS pupil with communication difficulties
• Supporting the child’s speech, language, and interaction development
• Implementing personalised strategies to meet the pupil’s individual needs
• Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals
• Supporting engagement in play-based and structured learning activities
• Encouraging social interaction and emotional regulation
• Monitoring progress and contributing to observations and reports
• Promoting a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
• A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent experience)
• Experience supporting children with SEND, particularly communication needs
• An understanding of early speech and language development
• A patient, calm, and caring approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• The ability to build positive relationships with young children
• A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
• A genuine passion for supporting children in the early years
