New Directions Education are looking to recruit a Design and Technology teacher to work in a secondary school in Wrexham delivering classroom based teaching across all secondary key stages and look to bring the best out of every student.
You will be responsible for delivering high quality teaching with the aim of helping students develop a broad base of skills through design, investigational and theoretical work to make objects that have a practical use, using a variety of techniques. The right candidate will also provide a creative and exciting learning environment whereby pupils are motivated and encouraged to show ambition, to maximise their potential, and to embrace all aspects of school life in order to develop a wide-ranging skill set
The successful candidate will have excellent subject knowledge across the Design and Technology subject areas as well as a high level of organisational skills, be enthusiastic, dynamic and committed to the highest expectations for all learners. Both experienced and newly qualified teachers are welcome to apply for this position.
Job Specification
We recruit Design and Technology (D&T) Teachers who are experienced or Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs).
Ideally you will be happy to teach anywhere from Key Stage 3 (KS3), Key Stage 4 (KS4) and possibly Key Stage 5 (KS5) in the following areas:
Electronics
Food technology
Graphics
Resistant materials
Systems
Textiles
As a Design and Technology Teacher you’ll be expected to:
Teach all areas of the school curriculum or your subject specialism
Organise the classroom and learning resources to create a positive teaching environment
Plan, prepare and teach lessons that cater for all student ability ranges
Motivate pupils with enthusiastic and imaginative presentation
Maintain discipline
Meet requirements for the assessment and recording of pupils’ development
Coordinate activities and resources within a specific area of the curriculum, supporting colleagues in the delivery of this specialist area
Stay up-to-date with changes and developments in the structure of the curriculum
Take part in school events and activities which may take place at weekends or in the evening
Liaise with colleagues and working flexibly, particularly within smaller schools.
