New Directions are currently recruiting for a caring and enthusiastic Early Years Teaching Assistant to work across Nursery and Reception in a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Leeds. This is a rewarding opportunity to join a dedicated Early Years team committed to providing the very best start in life for every child.

You will work closely with class teachers and other Early Years staff to support learning through both structured activities and child-initiated play. The role involves helping to create a warm, engaging, and supportive environment in which young children feel safe, confident, and ready to learn.

Early Years Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of the EYFS curriculum
  • Assist with setting up and leading a variety of engaging indoor and outdoor activities
  • Work with small groups and individual pupils to support language, social, and physical development
  • Contribute to observations and assessments to track children’s progress
  • Help manage routines including snack time, toileting, and transitions
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents, and other professionals

Early Years Teaching Assistant Requirements:

  • Has experience working with young children, ideally within a Nursery or Reception setting
  • Holds a relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant or Childcare qualification or equivalent
  • Demonstrates a nurturing, patient, and positive attitude
  • Has a good understanding of the EYFS framework and child development
  • Is proactive, reliable, and able to use initiative
  • Communicates effectively with both children and adults
