Job Description

New Directions Education is currently recruiting an enthusiastic and knowledgeable History Teacher for a long-term position starting in January 2026 at a secondary school in Sefton. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated teacher who is passionate about inspiring young people and delivering high-quality History education across Key Stages 3 and 4.

The Role:

  • Deliver engaging and well-structured History lessons across KS3 and KS4 following the school’s curriculum.
  • Plan, prepare, and assess pupils’ work in line with departmental and exam-board expectations.
  • Create a positive and stimulating classroom environment that promotes curiosity, critical thinking, and a love of History.
  • Participate in department meetings, contribute to curriculum development, and support wider school initiatives where required.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • A passionate and committed History specialist with strong subject knowledge.
  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or is an ECT with relevant training.
  • Able to differentiate lessons effectively and support learners of varying abilities.
  • Strong classroom-management skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils.
  • Willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check and register with the Update Service if not already completed.
  • Must have employment references covering the last 5 years.
