New Directions are looking for a dedicated, experienced and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and welcoming SEND school in Trafford. This is a full-time role supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs and disabilities, helping them to access learning, develop independence and achieve their full potential in a nurturing environment.
This role is due to start as soon as possible and will continue for the rest of the academic year. This role may lead to a permanent opportunity for the right person.
The Role
• Support pupils with a range of SEND needs on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
• Work closely with teachers and other professionals to deliver tailored learning and intervention activities
• Support pupils’ communication, social, emotional and academic development
• Adapt learning resources and activities to meet individual needs
• Promote positive behaviour and encourage pupil engagement throughout the school day
• Help create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment
• Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
The Candidate
• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND or SEMH needs is essential
• Experience within a SEND school, SEMH provision, alternative provision, care setting or similar environment is highly desirable
• A teaching assistant qualification is beneficial but not essential
• A patient, resilient and nurturing approach to supporting children and young people
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families
• Reliable, flexible and committed to making a positive difference to the lives of children with additional needs
