A specialist SEN primary school in Everton is seeking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support children with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD). This is a rewarding opportunity for a committed individual to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young pupils with complex and additional needs at a crucial stage of their development.
The Role
• Support teaching and learning for primary-aged pupils with PMLD, working closely with the class teacher and a multidisciplinary team including therapists and support staff
• Deliver and assist with sensory-based and therapeutic activities, helping pupils access a stimulating and supportive learning environment
• Use specialist equipment where required (e.g. hoists, standing frames, wheelchairs, and communication aids)
The Ideal Candidate
• Holds a recognised Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or equivalent desirable)
• Has experience working with primary-aged children with PMLD or complex needs
• Is confident supporting pupils with personal care and medical or physical needs
• Has an understanding of early communication approaches (e.g. PECS, Makaton, or similar) – desirable
Requirements
• References covering the last 5 years
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
• Relevant safeguarding training (or willingness to complete this)
