Job Description

New Directions Education are currently recruiting supply teachers, to cover all subjects in various secondary schools across Flintshire and the surrounding areas.

The work available is flexible and you are able to state your preferred days of work, the areas that you can travel to and the key stages that you prefer to work in. We have day to day and possible long term placements available.

Supply is a great way to build relationships with schools, and if you are looking to secure a permanent role, you can use supply as a working interview, your time to shine.

We encourage NQT’s to apply, however you must hold full QTS. Supply is a great way to also build on experience and confidence, which will hopefully lead you to your perfect role.

Job Specification

New Directions have on-going supply teaching jobs for Humanities Teachers in all areas. These positions are available for qualified teachers who can teach Key Stage 3 (KS3), Key Stage 4 (KS4) and possibly Key Stage 5 (KS5).

Newly qualified teachers (NQTs) looking for teaching work should also apply.

The Humanities Teacher role may require teaching of the following subjects: art history, classical studies, creative writing, English language and English literature, history, modern languages, music, philosophy, sociology and religious studies.

This role has a focus on personal and social development and pastoral care. If you have an interest in all things anthropological, a humanities teaching post may be the right role for you.

As a Humanities Teacher you’ll be expected to:

  • Teach all areas of the school curriculum or your subject specialism
  • Organise the classroom and learning resources to create a positive teaching environment
  • Plan, prepare and teach lessons that cater for all student ability ranges
  • Motivate pupils with enthusiastic, imaginative presentation
  • Maintain discipline
  • Meet requirements for the assessment and recording of pupils’ development
  • Coordinate activities and resources within a specific area of the curriculum, supporting colleagues in the delivery of this specialist area
  • Stay up to date with changes and developments in the structure of the curriculum
  • Take part in school events and activities which may take place at weekends or in the evening
  • Liaise with colleagues and working flexibly, particularly within smaller schools.
