Job Description

New Directions Education is currently recruiting enthusiastic and nurturing EYFS Teaching Assistants to work across a range of lovely primary schools in Ellesmere Port. We have both long-term placements and regular ad hoc bookings available to suit your schedule.

Location: Ellesmere Port
Start: ASAP & ongoing
Availability: Flexible – ad hoc, part-time, and long-term roles

About the Role:
You will be supporting children in Nursery and Reception, helping to create a warm, stimulating, and engaging learning environment. Roles may include 1:1 support, general classroom TA work, or small-group activities depending on each school’s needs.

Key Responsibilities:
– Supporting early learning through play-based activities
– Assisting with phonics, early number work, and fine motor skills
– Providing nurturing 1:1 support where required
– Encouraging social, emotional, and language development
– Working closely with class teachers and EYFS staff
– Helping maintain a safe, happy and engaging classroom

We’re Looking For:
– Experience working within EYFS (Nursery/Reception)
– A caring, patient and energetic approach
– Strong understanding of early child development
– Excellent communication and teamwork skills
– Level 2/3 TA qualification is beneficial but not essential

Job Specification

Teaching, Learning or Classroom Assistants are now vital resources for teachers and are heavily relied upon in schools.

We specialise in recruiting Teaching Assistants (TA) who are qualified in the following;

  • NVQ Level 2 Teaching Assistant
  • NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant
  • Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
  • CACHE Level 3 in Childcare & Education
  • BTEC National Certificate in Childhood Studies (Nursery Nursing).

We’ll also consider experienced Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) who have previously held a job in a primary school or assisted a pupil in the role in a secondary school but do not hold any of the above qualifications.

As a teaching assistant you’ll be expected to:

  • Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the head teacher, ALNCO and class teachers
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Programmes (IEP) for students and help monitor their progress
  • Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities
  • Assist class teachers with maintaining student records
  • Support students with emotional or behavioural problems and help develop their social skills.
